Current status of project: We are putting finishing touches on the presentation and progress report

Work completed in the last week:
  • We wrote various parts of the paper
  • We combined various parts of the paper
  • We met with Dr. Anastasio

Work planned for next week:
Start working on software
Finish progress report (editing and formatting)

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:
Critique on our presentation

Current status of project: We are continuing fleshing out our progress report and working out the algorithm

Work completed in the last week:
  • We met with our TA to discuss our work on the progress report, specifically organization
  • We fleshed out our main categories of ideas and are in the midst of describing our subcategories of ideas
  • We looked up manufacturers for some categories
  • We considered two main algorithms and chose one. We are working on more versions of doing the calculations.
  • We contacted our the graduate student working on the game software side, so we can properly interface with them.

Work planned for next week:
Complete presentation and report

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:
Meeting with Dr. Anastasio on Tuesday to discuss proper organization of our (many) ideas.

Current status of project:
We are organizing and fleshing out topics for our progress report

Work completed in the last week:
  • We met with Dr. Anastasio to discuss our project directions.
  • We met with our TA to discuss our work on the preliminary report.
  • We completed our classification tree and started exploring some of the ideas from it

Current status of project:
We are working on the information needed for the “Progress” report and presentation.

Work completed in the last week:
We met with our client to discuss our current progress. We are almost finished brainstorming and created a classification tree to organize our ideas. We chose a semi-modular design approach, so there are several options under each category of noise detection, noise reduction, microphone, smartphone interface, and apparatus. We contacted manufacturers from 21 recommended headphones for frequency-dependent noise reduction specifications, but did not receive any replies. We have scheduled a meeting with Dr. Anastasio on Tuesday.

Work planned for next week:
Finalize classification tree. Discuss with Dr. Anastasio the possible directions of our project (hardware vs. software).

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:
Meeting with Dr. Anastasio. Disability-friendly language information has not been posted to Telesis. Our initial report and presentation feedback.

Current status of project:
We are currently brainstorming designs for aspects of our portable controlled noise environment. We are also contacting some companies to get detailed specs for noise cancelling headphones.

Work completed in the last week:
  • Finished preliminary written report
  • Published a design website at www.portableat.weebly.com
  • Came up with some general designs for our device

Work planned for next week:
  • Get detailed specs for various noise canceling headphones
  • Generate more design ideas, possibly using a classification tree and combination table
